how to prevent bad breath
This is because your body is made in such a way that you can’t smell yourself. The process is “Acclimation”, and it exists so that we can smell other things.
You can still do some home tests that will let you know if you have a bad breath, and you don’t have to pay anything for them. Here are the tests:
Use some cotton gauze to wipe your tongue (the top), then smell it (the best way probably). And if you see a bit of yellow on it, you probably have a high sulfide production.
Lick your own hand, on its back. Wait for 10 seconds, let it dry and smell it. If you detect an odor after you smell it, then you got a breath disorder. When you lick the hand, the sulfur salts are transferred on it, so you can feel the smell.
Run some dental floss through the teeth from the back (where it’s possible to have food caught). After that, smell the floss you just used, and you might get an idea if you have bad breath.
Get the tongue out while you’re watching a mirror. Try to see the back of the tongue and see if it’s white. That’s usually a clue of bad breath. You can try seeing how others behave around you and that might also give you an idea about your breath.
Ask someone if you have a bad breath. Ideally, they should do it a few times in a single day, because it changes during the day.
If you find that foods give you a bad breath, it means that they have sulfur compounds. You will probably get a bad breath when you eat dairy, alcohol, sweets, or when you use a mouthwash that has alcohol in it.

How to tell someone about bad breath – halatosis
It is obviously a difficult problem to deal with and I don’t think I or anyone else would be in a good position to give you advice as to how to approach the issue with your partner. However it is also true that honesty is always the best policy. Talking to him about the problem openly might spare him a lot of embarrassment in the future because if his breath smells bad to you it must be the same for other people.
A few hints: People with bad breath usually don’t know about the problem so that might be a good way to approach it. A very easy test to find out if you have bad breath is to lick the inside of your wrist wait about 4 seconds and smell it. If you don’t like what you smell other people will also not like it!

Learn How Dry Mouth Can Stimulate Bad Breath
Bad breath is something that all of us have. Unfortunately some of us have it much worse then others. There are many things that can cause bad breath. The most common are the types of foods that we eat or drink. But did you know that there are certain common bodily condition that can create it?
Anyone who suffers from a dry mouth will also most likely battle with bad breath. Many people do not connect the two together – but according to health experts the bad breath is caused by the dry mouth. Saliva is important to people because it produces enzymes that help to digest the food we eat, balances the pH or acid levels in the mouth, and produces high amounts of oxygen that helps to keep the oral tissues healthy.
People who with dry mouths are obviously lacking the amount of saliva that is needed to keep the mouth healthy and to provide it with enough oxygen. Without the necessary amount of oxygen the oral tissues are not as healthy as they should be and it will allow the bacteria that causes bad breath to flourish.
The type of tongue that you are born with could determine whether or not you will be at a higher risk of dry mouth and bad breath. Someone with a tongue that has a deep line going down the middle of it is at a high risk for bad breath. This is because the bacteria will sit at the bottom of the groove where the oxygen cannot reach. The best way to avert bad breath is to use a tongue scrapper.
People who have tongues that are considered to be ‘hairy’ should also be careful. Every tongue has fibers on the surface. Someone with a ‘hairy’ tongue will have longer fibers and can hold onto the bacteria. This does not allow your body from getting rid of it.
There are certain things you can do that will help to reduce your cause of bad breath in people who suffer from dry mouths. The first thing you should do is refrain from using certain oral products this includes:
Coffee
No citrus juices
No smoking
It is possible that your dry mouth is being caused by other medical condition such as diabetes or thyroid problems. You should discuss the problem with your doctor and ask them for a solution to help cure both the dry mouth and the bad breath.

Bad breath is often due to the lack of moisture in your mouth. It is best to drink plenty of water to replenish dry tissues of the mouth and flush any food particles stuck in between teeth. It is often recommended that we drink eight glasses of water each day and this advice will go a long way to reducing bad breath. If you feel like drowning drinking the recommended dosage of water, one best way to moisturize one’s mouth is by eating fresh fruits
Gargling Mouthwash several times a day is not the solution. People who use mouthwash the most often are most likely to have bad breath. Although mouthwash do help to get rid of bacteria and freshen your breath, it also consist of ingredients that can dry your mouth. Hence, using it too many times a day can cause adverse effect instead.
Gargling with baking soda and water is one of the easier home remedy for bad breath. The baking soda assists in neutralizing the bacteria in your mouth and often is successful when used occasionally. Mouth wash is another quick and easy fix. Whether it is store bought mouth wash, or by means of a herbal concoction you find in a magazine, it is a good home remedy for halitosis. The most important way to rid yourself of halitosis, is to increase the number of times you brush and floss your teeth in a day. Flossing is very important, since it rids the teeth of plaque that builds up, resulting in halitosis.
One of the easiest remedies to cure bad breath is consuming sugarless yogurt. You can add this to your routine meals to see the effect yourself. A Japanese study cleared that people who had included sugarless yogurt in their diet had minor hydrogen sulfide levels compared to those people who did not eat it. Hydrogen sulfide causes bad breath amongst most people. Yogurt helps in reducing bad breath as it contains various live bacteria, such as lactobacillus.
Cranberries are another thing that people have found to be effective when it comes to fighting bad breath, try drinking cranberry juice more often, even just a couple of glasses per day might make a big difference.
